Jonathan Kuminga Stays Put
Jonathan Kuminga might not be scoring big, just averaging 12.8 points and 4.1 rebounds with an average shooting percentage, but he’s a tall and exceptional athlete, even among NBA players. It seems like he’s looking for a change. After a game where the Warriors lost an 18-point lead, Kuminga, according to a source, lost faith in coach Steve Kerr. The game was a tipping point for him.
The Warriors might have to trade Kuminga, along with the higher-paid players like Chris Paul, Andrew Wiggins, or Draymond Green, to bring in a star before the deadline. However, it makes sense to keep Kuminga. Many teams, in the past, traded away their future for a slightly better chance to win now, only to regret it later when the star player is no longer around or at the end of their career.

Pascal Siakam to the Kings
Sacramento Kings fans might have felt a bit confused this week. First, The Athletic’s Shams Charania said they were really trying to get Pascal Siakam. Then, just two hours later, he wrote that they decided to stop talking about getting Pascal Siakam altogether. It was a quick change of plans!
With a month left until the trade deadline, it’s clear that every team, including these two, is being tough about their players and assets. However, for the Toronto Raptors, keeping Pascal Siakam doesn’t really make sense now. They’ve already started a soft reboot with the OG Anunoby trade, and the relationship between Siakam, who’s in the final year of his contract, and the front office is complicated. A trade seems like the next sensible move. The Raptors can’t risk losing Siakam without getting anything in return (similar to what happened with Fred VanVleet), and the Kings have the assets to make the deal, even if they don’t include Murray.

Pacers Move Buddy Hield for a Defender
Buddy Hield has been in trade talks since he joined the Indiana Pacers, and now, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jake Fischer, he’s officially up for grabs. While keeping him in the blue and gold made sense before because of his excellent three-point shooting, the Pacers now have plenty of that.
Indiana’s struggling with defense, ranking near the bottom in points allowed per 100 possessions alongside the Pistons and Hornets. Adding just one player, even someone in Hield’s range, won’t fix everything, but even a small improvement could make a difference. This season, Hield is expected to be traded, and the Pacers are likely aiming to get a player who can contribute on both ends of the court in return.
